Façade Conservation and Enhancement Incentive and Heritage Conservation Incentive - 2026

Description

The City of Saskatoon encourages the conservation and enhancement of commercial building façades by providing grant funding to property owners and businesses located in established commercial areas to cover a portion of the eligible costs of facade improvement and/or conservation work. The program has three incentive streams an applicant may be eligible for - the Façade Conservation and Enhancement Incentive, the Heritage Conservation Incentive, and the Building Refresh Incentive.

The Façade Conservation & Enhancement Incentive Grant is intended to support larger, comprehensive façade redevelopment projects.

  • Projects can claim up to 50% of budgeted costs to a maximum of $16,000.
  • Projects on buildings without heritage elements which are only maintenance are not eligible for this incentive.

The Heritage Conservation Incentive Grant is intended to support the conservation of heritage façades.

  • Projects can claim up to 10% of the budgeted costs up to a maximum of $4,000.
  • Buildings must be listed on the Saskatoon Register of Historic Places or on the Built Heritage Database to receive this incentive.

If an applicant qualifies for both the Façade Conservation and Enhancement and Heritage Conservation Incentives, they can be used in tandem for a combined maximum of $20,000. Full funding is not guaranteed for any application.
